There are many aspects to type 1 diabetes (T1D) and because there is little known about the disease process and its causes, there is a significant need to continue studying human tissue from donors with the disease. The nPOD operational model is being used by three new JDRF initiatives, which aim to develop a better understanding of the disease.
The nPOD-Europe (nPOD-E) initiative aims to create an organ recovery and distribution network in Europe and provide the precious resource of nPOD donor gifts to our European investigators. For more information on nPOD-E, click here.
The nPOD-Transplant (nPOD-T) initiative is a JDRF-funded study aimed at collecting relevant tissue from organ donors who have undergone a pancreas transplant. To learn more about nPOD-T, click here.
For more information on nPOD new initiatives, please contact nPOD Assistant Director, Jayne Moraski.
